This is commonly referred to as Functional Threshold Power (FTP) or ‘Anaerobic Threshold’. Everybody knows it exists and everybody wants to increase it. By testing your Anaerobic Threshold with INSCYD, you will be testing the maximum intensity at which lactate combustion equals lactate production. This is determined by the size of your aerobic and anaerobic systems and how they interact. On the other hand, a high VLamax also causes a higher glycolytic flux rate at sub-maximum intensities, which is less desirable for endurance athletes. An athlete with a high VLamax will have high carbohydrate combustion, slower recovery from lactate accumulation, lower energetic contribution from fatty acids and lower performance at the Anaerobic Threshold. With this information it is possible to design training plans that reduce VLamax, which will lead to an increase in performance at Anaerobic Threshold.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Creo planes de entrenamiento individualizados, inspirados por el sistema de Entrenamiento Polarizado. El sistema de Entrenamiento Polarizado se asocia con el trabajo de Stephen Seiler, quien observó y analizó las distribuciones de intensidad del entrenamiento de los deportistas de élite. Seiler encontró que la mayor parte del entrenamiento de los deportistas de élite podría clasificarse de baja intensidad, con un pequeño, pero significativo, porcentaje de tiempo dedicado al entrenamiento de alta intensidad. Esta distribución de entrenamiento tiene beneficios obvios para los deportistas de élite, quienes dedican más de 25 horas a la semana a entrenar. No obstante también existen importantes beneficios fisiológicos y psicológicos de este sistema para deportistas "con poco tiempo". Dedicar tiempo al entrenamiento de baja intensidad ayuda a desarrollar el sistema aeróbico y crear las adaptaciones fisiológicas necesarias para soportar sesiones de entrenamiento de alta intensidad.</image:caption>

I recommend an initial analysis of physiological performance via an INSCYD test, and a further two tests during the year, to monitor progress and refine training in line with focussed goals.
