Philosophy

No two people are the same, no two training plans should be the same either.

I follow a broadly polarised approach to training, positioned within a relationship based, holistic and individual philosophy.

I’m always happy to arrange a call in order to find out if you as an athlete and myself as a coach are a good match.

Polarised Training

I create individualised training plans, inspired by the ‘Polarised’ approach to training.

Whilst this approach of accumulating a high volume of low intensity training hours and a much smaller number of moderate to high intensity hours has clear benefits for elite athletes who may spend over 25 hours per week training. There are however, also important physiological and psychological benefits of this approach for the ‘time crunched’ athlete.

Dedicating time to low intensity training will develop your aerobic fitness without causing excessive fatigue. This aerobic training is the foundation of your ability to train and race at high intensities.

Individualised Training

Training plans are most effective when they are created for an individual’s physiology, goals and time available to train.

I use the INSCYD system of metabolic analysis to determine an individual’s training zones and to identify the best approach to making physiological adaptations. With an advanced understanding of how an individual’s metabolism determines both their training and fuelling requirements, I can create the most effective training plans possible.
